Product Release: Ask Q in Quid Trends (Coming Soon)

Key takeaways:

  • Ask Q is coming to the Quid Trends tab, where it will answer questions about your live Trend Leaderboard in plain language.
  • A question will run across every trend on the board at once, so you can compare categories and spot crossover without opening each trend in turn.
  • You'll be able to ask which brands, products and ingredients sit inside a trend, then keep going with follow-up questions.
  • Trends named in an answer will be clickable, so a finding and the posts behind it stay one step apart.

The Trend Leaderboard shows what's rising on TikTok right now, and Ask Q in Quid Trends will soon let you put a question to that whole ranking in plain language, so a specific question gets a specific answer.

A ranking is very good at one job. It tells you what's climbing, how fast, and in which category. The questions that come after it are usually narrower than that: which skincare ingredients are trending with a younger audience, which brands keep appearing inside a trend you're already tracking, whether something rising in food is starting to show up in beauty. All of that sits in the trend data, and Ask Q will be the quickest route to it.

The panel will open beside the board you're already looking at. You'll type the question, Q will read across the live leaderboard, and the answer will come back with the trends it drew on linked inline.

First, what is the Quid Trend Leaderboard?

The Trend Leaderboard is a daily snapshot of the top-performing and emerging trends on TikTok, ranked by momentum.

Each row carries a Trend Score and the change in that score, the posts published in the period you've selected alongside the trend's lifetime total, views and the change in views, and a status telling you whether the trend is growing or cooling off. Underneath the name sit the top attributes, which are the themes and entities showing up most often inside that trend. You can filter the board by region, by category and by date, and open any trend to read the posts it's built from.

Quid is a consumer and market intelligence platform, and Trends is the part of it pointed at what's happening this week rather than what a category has looked like over the past year.

What is Ask Q in Quid Trends?

Ask Q in Quid Trends will be a conversational panel inside the Trends tab that answers questions about your live Trend Leaderboard.

Ask Q is Quid's natural language layer. Elsewhere in Quid Terminal it answers questions against an AI dataset, which is a defined body of social, news, broadcast, review and forum data built around a particular business question. In Trends, what it reads is the leaderboard itself: every trend currently on the board, with its score, its momentum, its category and the posts underneath it.

The panel will open with suggested prompts grouped by what they cover, so there's somewhere to start when you haven't arrived with a question already formed. You'll also be able to @ a trend by name to point a question straight at it.

What will you be able to ask it?

Four kinds of question, covering discovery, the entities inside a trend, analysis across the board, and getting to the underlying data.

Finding trends you haven't seen yet. Questions like "what are the fastest-growing trends this week?" or "are there any emerging skincare ingredient trends?" will surface trends you weren't already watching, and the suggested prompts in the panel cover this kind of question when you want a starting point.

Brands, products and ingredients. You'll be able to ask which brands, products or ingredients are associated with a trend, then follow up to go deeper, so one answer leads into the next without you rebuilding the question each time.

Analysis across categories. Questions about a single trend will work, and so will questions that put categories side by side, such as which category is driving the most growth overall or whether a trend is spilling from one category into another.

Getting to the underlying data. Trends referenced in an answer will be clickable, so when Q names something you can open it and read the posts it came from.

What will that look like in practice?

Take a beauty team watching skincare.

Opening the leaderboard on a Monday gives you the US board across all categories, sorted by Trend Score, which is the state of play. The question behind that is usually narrower, something closer to which ingredients are breaking out this week and which brands are attached to them.

Typed into Ask Q, that question will come back with the ingredient trends currently on the board and the brands appearing inside them, and a follow-up asking which of those are growing fastest will narrow it again. Clicking one will open the trend and the posts under it, so the claim and the evidence sit one click apart.

The same pattern holds for a food team tracking formats or a retail team watching which products keep surfacing inside a trend. The board tells you what's moving, and Ask Q will tell you what's inside it.

Where the answers will come from

Every answer will be drawn from the live Trend Leaderboard, which is the same board sitting in front of you.

Quid's TikTok trend data comes through a direct partnership with the platform, and the leaderboard refreshes daily, so a question asked on Tuesday runs against Tuesday's board. That sits inside a wider picture: Quid ingests more than 200 million social posts a day alongside 580,000 news sources, 1,500 broadcast channels, 85 review sites and 10,000 forums, with twenty years of proprietary natural language processing behind how all of it gets organized.

Because each answer will link the trends it used, you can open any of them and read the posts yourself. That matters most when a finding is going into a brief for someone else, since the person reading it can follow the same path back.

Wrapping It Up

A leaderboard answers what's rising right now, and Ask Q in Quid Trends will answer what comes after that: which ingredients, which brands, which categories, and what sits underneath any of them. Both will live in the same tab, so the ranking and the explanation stay together.
